Arsenal Top Target addresses Emirate switch as £50m Gabriel replacement named

Cody Gakpo addresses future

Arsenal transfer target Cody Gakpo has insisted that hearing rumours linking him with a big move is “nice to hear” but has reiterated his focus on the World Cup with the Netherlands.

The PSV Eindhoven attacker has been strongly linked with a big-money move in the previous six months after his impressive goalscoring form in the Eredivisie. Since the start of last season, Gakpo has been involved in 66 goals across all competitions and is now playing a vital part in dragging his nation through their World Cup group.

Gakpo doesn’t seem to be fazed by the noise around him and has been the Dutch’s best player in their World Cup fixtures against Senegal and Ecuador. Ahead of their clash against Qatar on Tuesday, Gakpo was faced with the press and his future was, obviously, brought up.

Gabriel replacement already sorted

Defender Gabriel Magalhāes is reportedly being eyed by a number of clubs across Europe after his impressive performances in Arsenal’s backline this season. Reports from Italy have suggested Juventus are monitoring the Brazilian and have deployed Gabriel’s compatriot Danilo to convince the centre-back to join the Old Lady.

In the summer, CalcioMercatoWeb reported that the Serie A giants were preparing to offer £25 million plus Adrien Rabiot on a permanent deal and Arthur Melo on loan. The move never materialised and the 24-year-old committed his future in north London until 2027 in October.

With Juventus still keen on the former Lyon man, pundit Pete O’Rourke has claimed Arteta already has a ready made replacement for Gabriel should he decide to move to Italy. He told the FootballFancast: “So, I think long-term plans still will be for White to play centre half and I’m sure an exciting partnership with him and William Saliba, who are both young and full of potential and they could be a great partnership in the making for years to come.”

Ben White misses England training ahead of Wales

Arsenal and England defender Ben White has missed training ahead of the Three Lions’ final Group B fixture against Wales on Tuesday, November 29.

White was the only player absent from England’s final training session before their crucial match against Wales. Gareth Southgate is expected to rotate his starting lineup after selecting the same team for the win against Iran and draw against the USA.

The Gunners star has been in fine form for his club throughout the start of the 2022/23 season and was rewarded with a call up for the World Cup in Qatar. White may have been in contention for a start against Wales tomorrow but now looks set to miss out after missing training with illness.
