Arsenal news: Edu offers summer transfer plans update as Martin Odegaard fires title warning

Edu provides update on Arsenal summer transfer plans

As Arsenal continue to lead the way at the top of the Premier League table, some have argued that their success is simply the product of good luck. Detractors say that the Gunners have been fortunate with injuries – the four-month absence of Gabriel Jesus notwithstanding – while last-gasp wins against Aston Villa and Bournemouth have only served to fuel this fire.

The argument has now extended into their business in the transfer window. It’s no secret that Arsenal wanted Mykhailo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo last month, but ended up with Leandro Trossard and Jorginho instead. While their initial targets have gone on to slightly underwhelm since January, the signings Arsenal actually made have already made significant contributions to their title push.

But having transformed Mikel Arteta’s squad from failing to qualify for Europe to title contenders in the space of four windows, the Gunners’ transfer hot streak cannot just simply be cast aside as good fortune. While other Premier League sides have indulged in the madness of the transfer market, Arsenal have a clear method.

Rio urges two Man United stars to follow Leandro Trossard example

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Antony and Jadon Sancho to learn from Arsenal star Leandro Trossard. The Belgian forward was signed by the Gunners in a £27million deal from Brighton after primary target Mykhailo Mudryk moved to Chelsea.

Trossard has made 10 appearances for Arsenal since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in January, scoring one goal and providing a further five assists. Three of those assists came in the 3-0 win against Fulham last weekend as the Gunners maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Antony and Sancho have both endured mixed seasons at Old Trafford and Ferdinand believes they are capable of more. The Brazil international Antony has scored seven goals in 29 appearances for United since his £82million transfer from Ajax last summer, whilst Sancho has scored five goals in 23 matches.

Odegaard fires Premier League title warning as Arsenal hold advantage

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has fired a warning to Premier League rivals insisting there is ‘more to come’ from the Gunners. Arsenal currently sit top of the table and five points clear of Manchester City heading into the final 11 games of the season.

Odegaard took over the club captaincy at the start of the season and has been influential in helping lead his teammates towards the Premier League title this season. Whilst the job is not done yet, there are positive signs that even if the Gunners do not lift the title this season, they will be fierce challengers for years to come.

Jamie Redknapp believes that the Norwegian playmaker has now surpassed City star Kevin De Bruyne as the best creative midfielder in the Premier League. Odegaard scored his 10th goal of the season in the 3-0 win against Fulham at the weekend and put in yet another spectacular display in midfield for Mikel Arteta’s side.
