Martin Odegaard claims two Summer signings hold the KEY to winning the title

Manchester City’s mentality monsters will be key to Arsenal winning the Premier League title, according to Gunners captain Martin Odegaard.

He was referring to the experience and leadership of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, who each won four league titles before switching Manchester to north London.

Brazilian striker Jesus has not started a Premier League match since November due to an injury lay-off but is expected to be in the XI for Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

And Gunners skipper Odegaard said the striker – and Ukrainian versatility man Zinchenko – are bringing fresh ideas and experiences learned in Pep Guardiola’s winning environment to help Arsenal’s title tilt.

‘Gabriel is a great addition to the squad again,’ said Odegaard. ‘He gives so much every day in training, he comes in and trains like it’s a game. He gives everything in all situations so it is great to have him back.

‘Of course, he has been at Manchester City and won a few things there so he can help with his experience and his energy as well. Great to have him back.

‘The (ex-City players) just bring different thinking, they have the experience and people listen to them when they talk.

‘They are calm under pressure and add a lot of things. The whole team is helping each other so that is the main thing.’

Arsenal will go eight points clear if they win – noting that Manchester City do not have a league match this weekend – and Odegaard says the Palace match will be a test of their character after Thursday’s bruising Europa League defeat to Sporting.

‘It is very, very important (to win),’ said the Norwegian. ‘The next game comes quick now so we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We have to recover and make sure we win.

‘It is good we feel disappointed. We should feel disappointed. We have to make sure it is only tonight and we come in with fresh minds ready to win on Sunday.’
