Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta faces eight injury concerns as Edu handed £35m transfer incentive

Latest Arsenal injury news as eight to miss Barcelona amid Bukayo Saka referee concern

Arsenal will look to return to winning ways on Thursday morning when they take on FC Barcelona in their third and final pre-season fixture of their tour of the United States.

The Gunners fell to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League rivals Manchester United on Saturday night. So far, Mikel Arteta’s side have won one, drawn two and lost one of their four games this summer ahead of the 2023/24 season.

All three new signings started together for the first time since their arrivals. Declan Rice partnered Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz in a midfield three while Jurrien Timber replaced Ben White at right-back.

Leandro Trossard, who was a concern ahead of the game, managed to get additional minutes into his legs after coming off the bench in the 71st minute. There were also minutes for Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira, with the former featuring for the first time after being allowed extra time due to his participation in the Under-21 European Championships.

Arsenal given £35m transfer incentive to hijack Chelsea move for Michael Olise

Arsenal have the perfect opportunity to beat Chelsea and Manchester City in a deal to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. The French forward is attracting interest from top clubs in the Premier League following his impressive displays for the Eagles last term.

The 21-year-old fits a similar profile to Ajax star Mohammed Kudus – who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea this summer. Olise’s ability to play on the wing and as a central playmaker makes him an attractive option for the likes of the Gunners and Mauricio Pochettino’s side, whilst Pep Guardiola is looking to find a suitable replacement for Riyad Mahrez.

Chelsea seem to be moving fast to add to Pochettino’s options in the final third with a report from RMC Sport stating a bid close to £35million has been submitted for the Palace wonderkid. According to Fabrizio Romano, Olise has a £35million release clause in his current contract at Selhurst Park which is a bargain price considering the Frenchman’s ability at a young age.

There are concerns regarding Olise’s injury record with the 21-year-old currently sidelined with an issue. Arsenal and Chelsea are looking at potentially signing Kudus from Ajax this summer, but the Gunners may have more of a reason to make a move for Olise instead.

Mohammed Kudus transfer theory emerges as Arsenal ‘negotiations’ timeline revealed

Arsenal may have already made a a huge transfer decision regarding Mohammed Kudus and Michael Olise. The Gunners are interested in Ajax’s £40million-rated midfielder but are focusing on trimming Mikel Arteta’s squad – for now.

Arsenal have spent over £200million on the signings of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber ahead of next season. The north Londoners are expected to sell a number of fringe players this summer with Arteta opting to not rule out further additions to his squad dependant on outgoings.

Kudus can play in a conventional central midfield role, in a move advanced position or even on the right wing. Another player to emerge as an option for the Gunners has been Olise.

A new transfer theory has emerged on social media amongst Gunners fans with one ‘insider’ suggesting that Kudus has been in contact with the north Londoners for ‘months and months’. The Ghana international was close to joining Everton last summer, but a move never materialised and he stayed with Ajax.
