Arsenal news: Edu considers David Raya alternative as £87m Kvaratskhelia transfer theory emerges

David Raya alternative

Arsenal are exploring a move to sign David Raya but are already looking at possible alternatives if Brentford stand firm on their £40million asking price.

The 27-year-old is expected to seal a move away this summer with Bayern Munich also interested, however now the Gunners have entered the race, Raya favours a move to Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Frank has made it clear Brentford will not sanction a departure until their price tag is met and with that, according to 90min, Arsenal have enquired about Robert Sanchez as a Raya alternative with his Brighton future unclear following the signing of Bart Verbruggen and emergence of Jason Steele last season.

Kvaratskhelia theory emerges

Arsenal have been handed a shocking boost to their hopes of an audacious transfer swoop for Napoli starlet Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 22-year-old, who is worth at least €100million (£86million) according to his agent Christian Emile, was crucial in helping Napoli win the Scudetto last season as he scored 12 goals and notched 13 assists which saw him form a lethal partnership with Victor Osimhen, but he could seal a move away soon.

Following Napoli’s decision to appoint Mauro Meluso as their new sporting director, they may have indirectly handed the Gunners some hope of signing Kvaratskhelia.

Lokonga to Burnley

Mikel Arteta and Edu are facing a very important Arsenal decision regarding the future of Albert Sambi Lokonga.

A minor muscular injury saw him miss the USA tour with his status in the group lessening following the midfield acquisitions of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Jorginho, who was signed by Arsenal in the same window Lokonga sealed a temporary departure, is another name likely to be ahead of the 23-year-old in the pecking order. Therefore, an exit is an expected outcome with Burnley in talks to bring Lokonga to Turf Moor.
