WELCOME! GOOD ONE: Arsenal must hijack £13m Bayern and Juventus transfer plan with PSG loan to solve injury woes

Mikel Arteta has seen a dream January transfer opportunity arise for Arsenal that can solve many of his injury worries. Ahead of the Liverpool FA Cup clash yet another blow arrived for the Gunners boss with Gabriel Jesus ruled out of the game because of a knee injury. understands it is just a small knee issue for the Brazil international that is not expected to be serious. Despite that, another absentee is a concern for Arteta although the bulk of the problems are in defence with Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey among the marquee names missing.

Takehiro Tomiyasu will also miss the next few weeks as he represents Japan at the Asia Cup, with Mohamed Elneny also absent with Egypt at the African Cup of Nations. Oleksandr Zinchenko is an injury doubt to face Liverpool after missing the previous weekend’s game with a calf issue.

Ben White played in that game, but understands he has been dealing with a knee problem since the November defeat to Newcastle. With that, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior are the only defenders fully fit and available to Arteta, clearly showing where depth is needed.

Signing a new full-back appears the priority if a deal can be achieved but making any permanent signings seems unlikely. After spending more than £200million last summer, Arteta and Edu must be wary of FFP, especially if they do not plan on making any significant sales in the winter window.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has been linked in the past but a January move is highly unlikely. He has a €40million (£34million) release clause that becomes active in the summer but Arsenal need an immediate solution. The financial situation of the club however, likely means a loan signing will be the only way to acquire a new player and understands Arsenal are on the lookout for loan deals, to cover for the loss of players.

While quality options being available on loan are rare to find, Arsenal may have been presented with the perfect opportunity to complete a deal. According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Juventus and Bayern Munich are both interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele despite the fact he only joined the French champions from RB Leipzig for £13.5million in the summer of 2022.

A departure from Parc Des Princes, either permanently or temporarily, is possible with PSG open to his exit if they can find a replacement. While there are a lot of moving parts to the deal, with Arsenal needing to beat two European clubs to his signature and also depend on PSG making a signing, Arteta and Edu would be foolish to not at the very least throw their name in the hat.

The 26-year-old can cover at right-back and in the centre of defence and he has also made some appearances on the right of midfield. While the France international does not quite offer the same attacking threat as Ben White, it would be an important short-term solution to the injury issues Arteta is facing and it is certainly a realistic transfer for Arsenal.
